== Summary ==
《War of Faith》is a 2024 Chinese Drama first broadcast on CCTV8 with a simultaneous streaming release on iQIYI. It premiered on both carriers on March 21st, with the final episodes airing April 7th on iQIYI and April 8th on CCTV8.

In 1930s Shanghai, Wei Ruolai, an employee at the Kuomintang controlled Central Bank of China, rises through the ranks due to his exceptional abilities and the support and guidance of senior advisor Shen Tunan. However, as he confronts the political compromises and corruption undermining the Central Bank's efforts, his path diverges from Shen Tunan's. Meanwhile, Tunan's beloved sister Shen Jinzhen is leading a triple life as fashionable socialite, chief engineer at the government munitions factory, and skilled assassin for the communist underground.

== Summary ==
《War of Faith》is a 2024 Chinese Drama first broadcast on CCTV8 with a simultaneous streaming release on iQIYI. It premiered on both carriers on March 21st, with the final episodes airing April 7th on iQIYI and April 8th on CCTV8.

In 1930s Shanghai, Wei Ruolai, an employee at the Kuomintang controlled Central Bank of China, rises through the ranks due to his exceptional abilities and the support and guidance of senior advisor Shen Tunan. At Central Bank, Zhang Mingquan is making a scene. HCY tries to reason with him, then calls the guards. Zhang Mingquan pulls a gun. HCY takes it and fires warning shots.

STN and WRL meet with Jiang Jinlan, and talk about the pros and cons of tariff reform.

In the car ride home, they talk about the threat of Yu Shiqing. WRL offers to apply for a gun permit. STN says no.

WRL goes to Qian Shaoliang and asks for a gun, is offered an axe, refuses.

Walking home WRL passes the New Show Club, sees Zhang Mingquan entering, remembers his gun, sneaks inside. ZMQ is drunk and making a scene, takes Song Meijuan to drink with him. WRL sneaks up and knocks him out in the toilet and steals his gun, wallet and pocket watch. Outside, WRL dumps the other items, and gets picked up by Qian Shaoliang in his car.

Su Cishu and STN are having dinner with Yu Shiqing and his wife. YSQ offers STN a new job, and stakes in two businesses.

Cpt Lin arrives at the New Show Club, finds ZMQ passed out, leaves him there.

At home, WRL practices aiming his stolen gun.

XN catches WRL without showing his face, and reveals himself as WRC's handler.
WRL meets up with LSD and hands over the key and seal.
LSD slips his watchers and takes the gold out of the bank. When the watchers realise he is missing Captain Lin sets in place a pursuit.
While LSD is waiting for a fishing boat to take him away, XN shoots him and takes the gold, which he then hands over to a contact on the tram.
At Central Bank, in front of STN, Captain Lin accuses WRL of colluding with the communists. WRL explains that he reported LSD to the police, and also sent a confession letter to the Investigation and Arrest Unit explaining the whole affair. When Captain Lin presses, STN asserts that he will take responsibility for WRL.
The communist prisoners in the French concession jail are paid for and are released.
Mr Song appoints STN to lead in the effort to take back tariff autonomy.
Kang Shaojie whips Captain Lin for his failure with LSD, WRC, the gold etc.
STN tries to send SCS away to his hometown, but she sees through him and refuses.

Li Shengda and LQS's men put on an act to make WRL trust LSD. WRL takes Li Shengda back to his rooms to treat his wound, then tells him about his brother's death. At WRC's grave WRL. light's candles, and agrees to give LSD the key and seal for the gold. The next day WRL takes the items out of hiding, and as he's heading out, A'Wen gives him the address to Rixin bookshop. WRL realises he is being tailed and evades pursuit. He ends up at Rixin bookstore, has second thoughts. He calls the police, informs on the bookstore, and waits nearby to see what will happen when the police arrive.
HCY presents STN with a report on WRL's background.
XN appears, masquerading as a fortune teller. SJZ sits with him, and he fills her in on WRC, WRL, LSD etc.
LSD reports to Captain Lin, but doesn't tell him about the gold.
WRL finds A-Wen, the two go for a walk and WRL talks over his predicament.

[[Wei Ruolai|Wei Ruola]]<nowiki/>i completes his exam, with all parts calculated correctly. He then escaped the burning building, helping others out but stayed back to fight the fire in order to protect Bank property. Shen Tunan is unhappy with the performance of all the candidates except him. Wei Ruolai is called in for an interview.

In the course of the interview, Wei Ruolai impresses Shen Tunan with his grasp of the purpose of a central bank. He says his strengths are calculation and memorisation. Shen Tunan gives him a memory test, on which he overachieves. They get down to talking about salary, and it seems that the job is all but a given when Huang Congyun appears with a dossier, telling Shen Tunan that there is a problem with Wei Ruolai's background: he comes from Jiangxi, which is communist heartland. Shen Tunan apologises to Wei Ruolai, and dismisses him.

Returning to Qibao street despondently, Wei Ruolai is comforted and encouraged by his neighbours. Yi Zhi gives him some advice: "They wouldn't hire you because you aren't a big enough asset to them. If you are truly a valuable asset, your resume and connections wouldn't matter at all. Even if you are a grenade they'd still grit their teeth and hold you in their hands." Wei Ruolai determines to become valuable to Shen Tunan. He searches articles and revisits the Stock exchange, analysing the situation.

Meanwhile, Xu Nao is telegraphing Jiangxi, and in Jiangxi, Lei Ming is handing off gold to a Wei Ruochuan, telling him to save their eight comrades.

Shen Tunan holds a grand cocktail party at his house for Christmas. Wei Ruolai talks his way inside. At the beginning of the night, a corrupt officer of the Central Bank is arrested. Then Shen Jinzhen comes down to play piano. Wei Ruolai recognises her, and when given the opportunity he grabs her and asks her to do him a favour, and pass a message to the host of the party, Shen Tunan.

Wei Ruolai and Shen Tunan end up in Tunan's office, with Ruolai explaining what he has deduced about Tunan's plans. Shen Tunan explodes, doubting that Ruolai could have thought it out himself, accuses him of stealing government secrets and pulls a gun on him.

WRL: Mr Shen, you're planning to spend a month using 15 transaction accounts associated with Kunpeng industries to attack the Imperial Bank of China, Huaxin Bank, Xingxia Bank, and Dongsheng Bank, until they fall into the clutches of the Central Bank. The Imperial Bank of China is just your first prey. ... The Central Bank was founded not long ago, with not much capital. When Chairman Chiang had a meeting with you, he said he hoped that in three years the Central Bank could become as rich in funding as the major traditional banks like the Bank of Communcations and the Bank of China. So, next, according to your plan, you'll gradually take over those four private banks. When that comes true the Central Bank will be strong enough in funding to support a financial reform.

Individuals can hardly keep track of every activity. When there are covert and simultaneous changes in numerous accounts, it would be impossible for anyone to discover the secrets within. How did you reach your findings?

WRL: Mr Shen, you've read my resume. Would you say the resources I have and my social background could give me access to the Central Bank's classified information? All my conclusions are based on my own analysis.

STN: That's impossible!

42:47 STN pulls hand gun out of the top drawer, slams it down on the desk top.

== Summary ==
[[Wei Ruolai]] introduces himself in a voice over. Then we meet him doing some accounting work for Mr Qian, a fellow townsman from Jiangxi and leader of an organised crime gang.

Shen Tunan arrives by train to take up his position as senior advisor to the Koumintang controlled Central Bank of China. He immediately undergoes an assassination attempt by way of car bomb, which he survives.

Ruolai's landlady Aunt Zhou bullies him into going to the stock exchange with her to buy shares in the Imperial Bank. Although the share price initially rises, Shen Tunan's interference sees the price plummet, and she loses money.

Meanwhile, an exchange of communist prisoners is interrupted by a rooftop sniper. The prisoners die and Shen Jinzhen (the sniper) is hurt but escapes with Lin Qiaosong, a Captain of the Shanghai military garrison, in pursuit.

Wei Ruolai tries to hail a rickshaw to take Aunt Zhou home, but the rickshaw is commandeered by Shen Jinzhen, and they leave together. Picking up that something is amiss, Wei Ruolai manages to talk the two of them through a police checkpoint. Shen Jinzhen thanks him for his help and promises a favour in return.

== Summary ==
[[Wei Ruolai]] introduces himself in a voice over. Then we meet him doing some accounting work for Mr Qian, a fellow townsman from Jiangxi and leader of an organised crime gang.

Shen Tunan arrives by train to take up his position as senior advisor to the Koumintang controlled Central Bank of China. He immediately undergoes an assassination attempt by way of car bomb, which he survives.

Ruolai's landlady Aunt Zhou bullies him into going to the stock exchange with her to buy shares in the Imperial Bank. Although the share price initially rises, Shen Tunan's interference sees the price plummet, and she loses money.

Meanwhile, an exchange of communist prisoners is interrupted by a rooftop sniper. The prisoners die and Shen Jinzhen (the sniper) is hurt but escapes with Lin Qiaosong, a Captain of the Shanghai military garrison, in pursuit.

Wei Ruolai tries to hail a rickshaw to take Aunt Zhou home, but the rickshaw is commandeered by Shen Jinzhen, and they leave together. Picking up that something is amiss, Wei Ruolai manages to talk the two of them through a police checkpoint. Shen Jinzhen thanks him for his help and promises a favour in return.
